I was born on March 31, 1968 at Chichaoua, a village located 70 km south of Marrakech. Being the 5th of a family of 7 children, I have spent my youth in this village. My daily activities included a roundtrip walk from home to school (or 8 km) and football games with my friends.
At the age of 15, I went to school in Marrakech to pursue my studies as a professional sports teacher. In 1987, after the baccalaureate, my father decided to send me on holiday to my sister who lives in the North-East of France, Longwy.
This is where my story begins with athletics. During these holidays, I met the neighbor of my sister who was the coach of the local track club at the time. He offered to do some jogging with me and managed to convince me to stay in France to practice athletics. I agreed! I went on to win my first race in Belgium and according to my coach, I had a real potential for running.
Afterwards I subscribed to a private high school. Unfamiliar with the French language, I took the decision to bifurcate with success to a BEP accounting and secretarial.
In 1994, I had to perform the military service after my naturalization. This experience has contributed to my success in athletics, because after a year I qualified for the European Cross Championships in the United Kingdom.
A dream came to fruition, I would finally run into the big league (in Europe and the world).
In 1997, I joined the 40th Signal Regiment in Thionville. In 2009. I chose to lay down the weapons, on order to embrace this new career: the sports coach.
A new page is being written ... far from Chichaoua.
